Stories and Poems
Anne Gullo lead this meeting which was something different for the group. There is a long history of the story and verse being linked together. Many early poems were ‘narrative poems’ telling a story in verse – most Anglo-Saxon and Celtic poetry that has survived is of this sort.
Many favourite poems such as ‘The Ancient Mariner’ are stories in verse.
This was a chance to tell a short story or read a short ‘narrative poem’ or read part of a longer poem.

The East Coker Poetry Group was 10 years old in May. What better way to celebrate than have a poetry party.
We had food, wine, a competition and ….poetry of course. Poet Catherine Simmonds started the poetry readings and this was followed by readings from several local poetry groups. A good time was had by all….
